The New Orleans Saints have parted ways with coach Dennis Allen after seven defeats in a row in the NFL professional football league.
The franchise from the US state of Louisiana announced this on Monday, one day after the disappointing 22:23 at the Carolina Panthers. Darren Rizzi, previously the Saints’ special teams coordinator, will take over as interim coach. Allen took over the team in February 2022.

More promising Start of the season – difficult future
After New Orleans missed participating in the playoffs in the past two seasons, the Saints started the season surprisingly strongly this year with two clear victories against the Panthers (47:10) and the Dallas Cowboys (44:19). But then came the slump predicted by many experts: further success was not to follow; after nine games the Saints have a record of 2:7 wins.
In addition, New Orleans is likely to have an extremely difficult roster restructuring ahead of it next season due to various financial legacy issues. It would be difficult to get a renowned top coach to take on this task.
