Football professional Jakob Johnson travels to the NFL game with the New York Giants München. «I’m on the plane. I’ve already handed in my passport,” the 29-year-old from Stuttgart reported to the German Press Agency. It has not yet been decided whether Johnson will be on the active game day squad against the Carolina Panthers or will remain on the practice squad and then be ineligible to play. “It can be both,” said the offensive player.
Johnson is having a difficult season with the New York Giants and has been released and then re-signed multiple times. The Swabian is playing his sixth NFL season and was previously active for the Las Vegas Raiders. His career began in the best football league in the world with the New England Patriots.
Playing at the Allianz Arena would mean a lot to Johnson. “It would just be another very, very cool moment on my journey, I would just have a lot of fun playing in front of friends and family in Germany,” he said. He organized tickets for 52 people for the game in Munich. But even without the effort, Johnson sees the trip as a win. “For me, victory is just being there, regardless of whether I’m on the pitch or not,” he said.
