Vikings c. Bears
From 1 p.m. on RDS

The Minnesota Vikings want to cling to their hopes of winning the NFC North division title and they have a golden opportunity to put some pressure on the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon.

The Vikings will be looking for their fourth straight victory, as they face the Chicago Bears. After starting the season with four wins in six games, the Bears have been having trouble recently with four losses in a row.

This will be the first of two matches between the two teams this season as they will meet again on December 16.

The Vikings (8-2) are in second place in a very fierce division, while the Lions (9-1) still dominate the top. The latter will face the Indianapolis Colts at the same time on Sunday. Minnesota also wants to keep Green Bay Packers (7-3) at distance.

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, the first overall pick in the 2024 draft, is having a rough first season. He hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass in his last four games and has been limited to at least 131 yards in two of his last four outings.

It’s quite the opposite for Sam Darnold, who has surpassed the 240-yard mark in aerial gains in each of his last five games. His receiver Justin Jefferson is second in the NFL with 912 receiving yards this season.

The Vikings will then have a meeting with the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday, while the Bears will have a meeting with the Lions on Thursday evening.

49ers c. Packers
From 4:25 p.m. on RDS

The San Francisco 49ers and the Green Bay Packers are at the height of the playoff race in the National and the two teams will face each other in the afternoon on Sunday.

Already well in the saddle in sixth place with a 7-3 record, the Packers will try to sign a sixth victory in their last seven games, to increase their chances of participating in the playoffs.

It’s the opposite situation for the 49ers, who need a win to move closer to a playoff spot. They will try to get back to winning ways after a 20-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks last week.

Christian McCaffrey will play a third match this season, after missing the first weeks of activity. He had more than 100 total yards on the ground and through the air in each of his first two outings. McCaffrey had a better game on the ground with 78 yards last week.

The 49ers will, however, be without two important players, Brock Purdy (shoulder) and Nick Bosa (hip and obliques).

In Purdy’s absence, Brandon Allen will get the start, the 10th of his NFL career.

Eagles c. Rams
From 8 p.m. on RDS

After starting the season with four losses in five games, the Los Angeles Rams are back in the saddle after winning their last four outings. The visit of the Philadelphia Eagles (8-2) represents an important test for Sean McVay’s troop and a victory would put the Rams (5-5) directly in the playoff picture.

It won’t be an easy task against the Eagles, winners of their last seven games, who are determined to compete for first place in the NFC and all the advantages that would come with the conference title come January.

The Eagles have won in each of their three visits to Los Angeles since the Rams returned there. Last year, Philadelphia shut out the Rams in the second half en route to a 23-14 victory.

The Eagles’ defense will have to deal with receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, who are both healthy and who combined for 229 yards last week against the Patriots.

“They’re two very good receivers,” defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said. “They both have really good karma, with Matthew Stafford. They are both good receivers. They are both excellent runners after the catch. They will be difficult to defend. »

In contrast, the Eagles’ offense will continue to be run-based, with Saquon Barkley in focus. This will be quite a tall order for the Rams defense which is allowing an average of 127.3 yards rushing.

Under the lights, during the last game on Sunday, we can count on quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Matthew Stafford for putting on a great show.
