NFL Trade Deadline: Jonathan Mingo to Dallas, Khalil Herbert to Cincinnati

Hours before the NFL trade deadline, which was set for 4 p.m. today, the Dallas Cowboys have acquired wide receiver Jonathan Mingo and a 2025 seventh-round pick from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round pick, reports NFL Network.

Mingo, a former 2023 second-round pick, joins the Cowboys after star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb suffered a sprained knee joint in Sunday’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

Quarterback Dak Prescott was also injured during the game and is expected to be placed on injured reserve, which would sideline him for a minimum of four weeks.

Mingo had 12 catches for 121 yards and no touchdowns this season.

Herbert as reinforcement for the Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals, meanwhile, acquired running back Khalil Herbert from the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round pick, the Bears announced Tuesday.

Cincinnati needed a running back after Zack Moss said he was dealing with a neck injury before the team’s Week 9 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. On Monday, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said more information would be gathered this week and that it was unclear when Moss would return to play.

Herbert, a 2021 sixth-round pick, is in the final year of his rookie contract. He has been used little by the Bears in his six games this season. He carried the ball just eight times for 16 yards and a touchdown and was absent in Chicago’s last two games.

The Virginia Tech alum adds depth behind Bengals running back Chase Brown, who rushed 27 times for a career-high 120 yards in Cincinnati’s 41-27 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on last weekend.
