Tyreek Hill revealed that surgery may be required after a wrist injury limited him in practice last week, but that it would likely wait until the end of the season.
The Dolphins receiver injured his wrist in August during a joint practice with the Washington Commanders. The injury worsened during the first nine weeks of the season, to the point where he was unable to participate in the last two practices of Week 10 and his case was doubtful for the duel against the Los Angeles Rams.
Best receiver in the NFL last year, he refused the procedure and will play despite the pain.
“I just have to grit my teeth and endure the pain. It’s going to get worse the more I play, but have to get through it for my team. No matter how I feel, I am dedicated. Even if I have to slit my wrist, I’m still here because I love football.
“The subject of surgery came up and we discussed it with the doctors, but at the end of the day, it’s my decision, and my decision is to stay on the field. »
Hill hasn’t committed to going under the knife at the end of the season either, but said he’ll be in a good frame of mind to make the decision when the time comes. He did not practice Wednesday, but was scheduled to participate on a limited basis Thursday before facing the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
Monday night, ESPN reporter Lisa Salters reported that Hill admitted to her that he aggravated his injury while in police custody before the season opener. Hill was taken to the ground and handcuffed after an altercation when he was pulled over for speeding. When asked Thursday to confirm the comments, Hill said it actually happened during training with the Commanders.
No one has more receiving yards than Hill (3,971) since 2022, but he is having one of his worst starts to a season currently. He leads the Dolphins with 462 yards in nine games, but is 37th in the league in this regard.
