Bo Nix and the Broncos gave the defending champions a run for their money and seemed headed for a prestige victory.
However, Will Lutz‘s 35-yard attempt at the last second was indeed blocked by the Chiefs‘ special teams to extend their streak to 15 consecutive games without a loss.
A Sunday full of suspense
The first part of the Red Zone was marked by several suspenseful encounters.
In Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers and the 49ers went blow for blow. With the return of Christian McCaffrey, the 49ers took the lead with Ricky Pearsall’s first TD, just 10 weeks after getting shot.
But that was without counting Baker Mayfield who, with 41 seconds to go, ideally put the Buccaneers back to send everyone into overtime after Chase McLaughlin’s successful field goal.
However, the 49ers managed to win 23-20 on a last-second field goal from Jake Moody after a very well-constructed drive from Brock Purdy.
Between the Steelers (7-2) and the Commanders (7-3), the suspense was also there in this shock.
Up to 10 points behind entering 3e quarter-time, the Steelers still managed to come back and win with a final touchdown at 2:22 from the end by Mike Williams. Final score: 28 to 27. Note, George Pickens’ exceptional touchdown in the first quarter in a very acrobatic manner.

The Lions have come a long way
In the Sunday evening clash, the Lions won 26-23 against the Texans despite 5 interceptions from Jared Goff.
Trailing 23 to 7 at the end of the first period, the Lions did not concede a single point in the second period. The deliverance came from Jake Bates and his foot from 52 yards in the last second.
Detroit therefore continues its momentum and now has a record of 8 victories for only 1 defeat this season.
