NIKE SB is releasing an NBA-related DUNK LOW, so I invited skater Sora to go out for a photo shoot.
NIKE SB occasionally releases shoes related to American sports. This time, we will introduce the uniform colors of the NBA’s prestigious team, the Seattle SuperSonics.
Unfortunately, the SuperSonics are currently without a team. However, the team has many fans all over the world, and many are looking forward to its comeback. When I played basketball as a teenager, it was one of my favorite teams. After getting excited about Shawn Kemp’s rim-ripping slam dunks and watching Gary Payton tire Michael Jordan with his tangled defense, I reconsidered how cool defense was.
This time’s NIKE SB DUNK LOW SUPERSONICS is not the classic green and yellow uniform color, but a new uniform color that is mainly green and red. I thought the red would stand out better on the street asphalt. Great attention has been paid to the details, such as the two-layered Swoosh and the mesh material on the tongue that resembles a uniform jersey.
Since we were talking about basketball, I asked Sora to find a skater who could both skateboard and play basketball.
Sora is currently a third year junior high school student. Recently, he started coming to the store. I’ve been playing basketball, but now I’m hooked on skateboarding.
As I watched Sora dribbling the ball and doing ollies on his skateboard, I realized that basketball and skateboarding were finally becoming commonplace in rural Toyama. When I was a junior high school student, no matter where I looked, there were no basketball hoops outside of my school. So when I practiced at home, I would shoot at telephone poles, and there were no adults with whom I could talk about skateboarding culture. I’m sure Sora’s generation will make skateboarding even cooler and more interesting. I’m looking forward to their future, so let’s continue with the skateboard shop for a little while longer.
NIKE SB DUNK LOW PRO “SUPERSONICS” will be released on November 27th at 9am.
