“I don’t think the fans like the new Champions League formula”. Bernd Reichart, CEO of A22 of Sports Management, the company that created the Super alloy, gave his personal thoughts on the new format studied by UEFA for one of the most important competitions at club level during the season. Al Social Football Summit answered various questions from those present and underlined the importance of fans in the football industry: “We put them at the center of what we do”.
Reichart, the Super League and the new Champions League
Bernd Reichart he spoke like this about the Champions: “I don’t like how it’s structured. For me it doesn’t work because each club is disconnected from the others, without facing the same opponents and with a single ranking. For UEFA, 7.6 points are needed to go to the next phase, but this aspect is the most difficult for fans to understand. In my opinion, the clubs should decide the most suitable formula and not be imposed by others”.
Hence the difference with the Superalloy: “Our app would promote engagement with the sportyou could take advantage of all the content and watch all the matches, also coming into contact with the players. There are huge platforms like Netflix, Amazon and Disney, but there are also platforms like the NBA and NFL that are playing a very important role in distributing your brand globally”. To close he spoke about the fans’ appearance: “Access to the football industry has become complicated from an economic point of view, it became too expensive for the fans who find themselves paying more and more. In this way people turn away from sport because there are cheaper alternatives to attract them”.
