The ladies 30 of TC Osterholz-Scharmbeck defended their lead in the tennis league with a confident 5-1 away win at TC Fallersleben. The guests decided the game early thanks to an optimal individual balance.
The TCO had clear advantages, especially at the front positions. In the top singles, Sandra Meyerdierks achieved a clear two-set win. Thanks to her outstanding fitness, she ultimately forced her older opponent to make a lot of mistakes, but at times Meyerdierks also hit winning shots that were worth seeing. In Dörte Kleinert’s singles, the very first game, which lasted almost half an hour, set the trend. The TCO number two decided it for himself and now hurried away. In particular, her patience in waiting for her opponent to make unforced errors paid off.
A consistent style of play earned Kathrin Plotzke the win in the first set (6:4). Little by little, however, she was pushed onto the defensive by her opponent’s high speed of hitting, and shortly afterwards found herself in the decisive match tiebreak, which the somewhat more consistent Plotzke deservedly won in the end. Katrin Tetens also went through a similar roller coaster ride in fourth place. After an effortless first round (6:0), she lost her thread and seemed to have her back against the wall in the match tiebreak at 0:5, before Tetens managed to turn things around with 10:7.
In the following doubles, Dörte Kleinert and Jule Juschkat allowed the hosts to score. In many cross rallies, the TCO duo was unable to make a significant impact on the grid. “Promotion is now an issue,” said team leader Sandra Meyerdierks, beaming with joy. The season ends for the TCO in January with home games against Leer and Lüneburg.
