Sports reporters will choose tomorrow the Athlete of the Year 2024

Tomorrow, Friday, November 15, the vote will be held at the facilities of the Municipal Institute of Sports and Physical Culture of Juárez (IMDEJ) to elect the Athlete of the Year 2024, which will emerge from among the 39 registered candidates.

The Electoral Committee is made up of 11 journalists from the different media outlets in the city, the coordinator of IMDEJ Federated Sports, Ericka Guardado, and the councilor of the Sports and Physical Culture Commission, Karla Michaeel Escalante Ramírez, for a total of 13 votes.

According to the call issued weeks ago, in the event of a tie, the director of the IMDEJ, Juan Escalante, will be in charge of casting his vote.

The 11 categories that will be competing in this vote are: Athlete of the Year; Sports Talent; Paralympic Athlete; Amateur and Professional Trainer; Professional Athlete; Amateur and Professional Team; Amateur and Professional Sports Promoter; Physical Education Teacher.

For the category of Athlete of the Year 2024, the IMDEJ received six resumes, Blanca Camila Granillo Palacios, from taekwondo; Etiel Soto Maldonado, athletics; Clemente Lara Palomino, from taekwondo; Paulina Luna, rodeo; Diana Alejandra Rosales Núñez, from judo and Valeria Muñoz Receles, from boxing.

For the Sports Talent category there are 11 candidates: Jireh Paulina Zamarripa, Gael Marentes Trujillo and Roberto Aguirre Villela, of taekwondo; Gerardo Hernandez Aguirre and Angel Eduardo Botello Munoz, track and field; Kenneth Damian Alba Ruiz, chess; Mariana Deneb Carrillo Rodriguez, Emilio Alexander Falcon Diaz and Fernanda Isabella Sandoval Soto, judo; Matthew Isaiah Holguin Aguirre, martial arts and Audrick Mountain Avila, of tochito flag.

In Paralympic Athlete, three candidates were received, Lorenzo Antonio Valles Rivera and Pablo Samuel Larreta García, in athletics, and Melissa Alvarado Nevárez, in swimming.

In Amateur Coach there are six candidates: Oscar Manuel Chávez, Karim Hernández, Juan Antonio Vázquez Polanco, José Luis Vázquez Magallanes, Francisco Lozoya Puentes and Fernando Alonso Soto Franco.

In the categories of Athlete and Professional Trainer, a resume was received each from the boxer Miriam “Puppy” Hernández and Javier Enock Solís.

Karim Taekwondo and the Master Ciudad Juárez basketball team registered as an Amateur Team.

As a Professional Team: Indomitables of volleyball and Chiefs of American football.

As Amateur Sports Promoter, the candidates are Jorge Amaya, from taekwondo, and Marco Antonio “Chueco” Solís.

José Luis Mayrán, from Rodeo, and César Durán, from the American football Chiefs, will be competing as Professional Sports Promoter.

In the Physical Education Teacher shortlist there were three records that correspond to Luis Enrique Tamay, Luis Carlos Delgado and José Gustavo Luján.
Voting begins at 12:00 noon.
