Olivier Giroud is a practicing Christian. The one who is the top scorer in the history of the French team never hesitates to testify to his relationship with Christ to tell about the importance in his life of his Catholic faith. The Bible is his bedside book. » I have faith, I believe in God. I know that nothing happens to us by chance but that Jesus has plans for each of us,” he said.
Sensitive to the cause of persecuted Christians around the world, the former Chelsea and Milan player has put up for auction one of the jerseys he wore with his new club, Los Angeles FC. “I am very proud and honored to put this very special jersey up for auction,” he confided on his social networks ahead of the sale which took place on Wednesday November 20 for the benefit of L’Œuvre d’Orient. I wore this jersey on September 25 during the US Cup final. We became champions and this jersey therefore has a special value in my eyes. I hope that you will be generous in favor of our Christian brothers and sisters persecuted in the East and more particularly in Armenia. »

“I feel blessed to have earned this new title and know that this gift will bless all our brothers and sisters who are persecuted today and who need support. As Jesus said, there is more joy in giving than in receiving. It is an honor for me to put this jersey up for auction. I’m counting on you. » he continued.

In 2023, Olivier Giroud had already donated the jersey worn during the 2022 World Cup and the match against England in the semi-final. The profit from the sale (35,000 euros) was donated to the Armenian Christians of Nagorno-Karabakh.
During this evening, Mike Maignan also gave his support to the Eastern Christians by offering his French team jersey worn during the recent match against Israel.
