“The most important [thing] is that we took the win tonight,” Nikola Milutinov, who paired his 11 points with 8 rebounds, told EuroLeague TV. “It was a tough game for us, especially when we put ourselves in a bad position in the first half, when Maccabi was playing amazing in the second quarter. But in the third quarter we stepped up, everybody was playing more aggressive and better defensively and this is what got us back in the game.”
Energized by a rigid defense, Olympiacos’s offense took over, with the guests outscoring Maccabi 10-28 in the third quarter. Sasha Vezenkov and Evan Fournier stood out for yet another game, with the latter taking over to inspire Olympiacos’s comeback with 10 points and 2 assists in the third. Fournier also nailed a big triple to make it 81-85 with 2:29 remaining before Vezenkov stayed ice cold from the line, hitting 4 of 4 when it mattered most to clinch a 91-94 road victory.
