He National Sports Award 2024 will recognize six Olympic and Paralympic medalists from Paris 2024including prominent athletes such as divers Osmar Olvera and Juan Celayathe judoka Prisca Awiti and the boxer Green Frame in the non-professional sport category.
In the Paralympic field, the thrower will be awarded Gloria Zarza and the sprinter Juan Pablo Cervanteswhile in the professional category, the soccer player Charlyn Corral will be the honoree.
As for coaches, Radamés Hernández, Iván Rodríguez and Martín Velasco will receive recognition. In the category of career, the exclavadista Alejandra Orozco and the former Olympic wrestler Daniel Aceves will be honored.
Outstanding Participation in Paris 2024
Osmar Olvera closes an impressive 2024 with two Olympic medals in Paris, in addition to two others in world championships and three golds at the Pan American Games. As a team with Juan Celaya, both won a silver medal in the synchronized 3-meter springboard, an achievement that places them among the highest recognized in the National Award.
Marco Verde, meanwhile, broke a 40-year streak for Mexican boxing by reaching the final in the 71 kg of the Olympic Games, obtaining a silver medal. Verde also won gold in the recent Pan American Games in Chile, marking a historic career under the tutelage of coach Radamés Hernández, who will also be awarded in the coaching field.
Prisca Awiti made history for Mexican judo by becoming the first woman in the country to win an Olympic medal in this discipline, taking silver in the 63 kg category.
In the Paralympic category, thrower Gloria Zarza will be recognized after obtaining gold in the F54 shot put in Paris 2024. Juan Pablo Cervantes will also be awarded for his notable performance in the 100 meters T54, in which he won the Paralympic title. Their coaches, Iván Rodríguez and Martín Velasco, will receive the National Award in their category in recognition of the success of their athletes.
In addition to the athletes and coaches, the work of the Harp Helú Foundation in the Promotion and Promotion of Sports will be highlighted. Referee Katia Itzel García will also be awarded for her outstanding work in Liga MX, consolidating the presence of women in areas of sports arbitration.
The winners will receive their prize on November 20, in a ceremony headed by president Claudia Sheinbaum. Each one will obtain a diploma, a rosette and an incentive of 796 thousand pesos, awarded to those who have not previously been awarded or who participate in the professional category.
