Avezzano will turn the spotlight on two events scheduled for Saturday 30 November: the A5 National Paralympic Football Trophy and the Sports Grand Gala.
The direction of the two initiatives is the CIP Abruzzo regional committee, in full synergy with the CSI L’Aquila provincial committee, the Next Gen association and the patronage of the Municipality of Avezzano, the Province of L’Aquila and the Abruzzo Region.
The morning program of the A5 football trophy includes the reception of the participating teams Accademia Soccer (Pescara), Rurabilandia (Pineto) and Anthropos (Civitanova Marche) at the Palasport Eroi di Nassiriya starting from 9.45am.
The three teams will compete against each other in a triangular tournament and at 12.30 there will be an awards ceremony and greeting from the local institutions and the CIP Abruzzo to conclude a morning in which the main imperative is to promote and spread the sport paralympic.
In the elegant setting of Castello Orsini, starting from 4.30pm, the Grand Gala is the last act of the 2024 calendar year of all Abruzzo paralympic sport with the usual parade of athletes and clubs who have achieved notable results, both nationally and internationally, in addition to the awarding of merit and sporting honours.
Paralympic sport in Abruzzo reached its peak this year with the athlete Ilenia Colanero at the Paralympic World Championships in freediving and finswimming (4 gold, two silver, one bronze and a world record) the technicians Pierpaolo Addesi, Francesco Parmegiani e Silvio Tavoletta who, in the role of team leader, led the national cycling and Paralympic judo teams at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.
During the Grand Gala, the salient moments of all Abruzzo paralympic sport will be retraced, summarized in these figures: 120 paralympic athletes and partners to receive awards, 40 companies of which six are involved in activities linked to CIP-INAIL projects, seven schools of of which two are operational within the projects with the CIP and the University of L’Aquila which launched the first Italian CIP-university pilot project in 2024.
