Four months before the first racquet hits, Franck Laurent, its director, kicked off the next edition of the Orléans Masters Badminton which will take place from March 4 to 9 at the Palais des sports in Orléans.
In the premises of the Loiret tourist office, this Tuesday, November 5, and in front of all the partners of the event, Franck Laurent, its director, kicked off the next edition of the Orléans Masters Badminton.
It will take place from March 4 to 9 at the Palais des sports Jean-Ros. In four months, then, which is a lot and a little at the same time. The deadlines will quickly arrive for this tournament which is in the top 30 in the world and which is placed just behind the French Open in France.
A budget of one million euros
“It’s a big organization throughout the year with four employees. And it accelerates before the tournament with the help of our many volunteers,” explains Franck Laurent.Franck Laurent, tournament director.
If the prize pool will increase from 210,000 to 240,000 dollars, the Orléans Masters Badminton will not change category (BWF 300). “The main objective is to consolidate our organization. We must be able to capitalize and upgrade the quality of services,” says Franck Laurent. “There are always things to improve, but we must stay within our budget.” It is currently one million euros in balance for the last edition (+8,000 €).
The winners of the last edition
A half-price offer to attend meetings at the end of the day “in after-work mode” will be tested this year. With the aim of filling the stands of the sports hall a little more.
The French for the win?
Franck Laurent also plays the prognosticator. “We have French players who are doing really well and who can now compete with the Asians,” argues the tournament director. “The field will be denser (two or three players from the world top 10 are expected) but Alex Lannier or the Popov brothers can go very far, and even win the tournament. It would be great for the public and for us, it would be an asset additional.”
