With these words the President of the Lombardy Regional Council Federico Romani this afternoon he received in the Biagi Room Lombardy Palace the athletes who participated in the Paris Olympics

Among others, there were Nicolò Martinenghithe swimmer from Varese who won the first blue gold in the 100m breaststroke in Paris and Giovanni De Gennaro the canoeist, gold in the K1 slalom and one of the architects of the success of “Roncadoro”, as it was renamed Roncadelle, town in Brescia with just under 9 thousand inhabitants and 3 Olympic gold medals (the other two are Anna Danesicapitane dell’Italvolley e Alice Bellandi who rose to the top step in judo).

“You competed for all Italians and all Italians were at your side – he underlined Federico Romani -. Because behind every medal there is the athlete who won it. There is a technical staff and a medical staff. There are the military sports groups, there are the Federations, there is the CONI and the CIP, the managers of the grassroots clubs who raised him as a child. There are friends and school teachers who supported him. There is the family, with all the sacrifices made. Behind each of these medals there is all of Italian sport, there is Italy.”
