A serious episode of violence occurred yesterday morning in via Costituente in Parma, near the Liceo Scientifico Marconi, where a 14-year-old student was attacked with pepper spray by a young attacker, described by the victim as a boy who “will have I was 12 years old” of foreign origin.
The incident occurred while a group of first-year students were waiting to enter school. The attacker approached under the pretext of asking for information on a black car, and then flew into a rage accusing the boys of making fun of him. He then pulled out a stinging spray, hitting the fourteen-year-old directly in the face. A companion of the victim, in an attempt to chase the attacker, was also hit in the mouth, fortunately suffering only minor consequences.
The victim, who suffered vision problems following the attack, was promptly helped by his classmates and accompanied inside the institute where the school staff immediately alerted the emergency services and contacted the family. Transported to hospital, the young man was examined by doctors and received a visit from the Carabinieri who collected the first testimonies of what happened. The prognosis is 15 days.
The police are currently analyzing the recordings of surveillance cameras in the area, where the attacker has already been spotted previously. The complaint was made automatically and the authorities are proceeding to identify the young person responsible. Depending on the age of the aggressor, various measures could be adopted, from a criminal trial to a recovery process, up to taking charge of the social services.
This episode is part of a broader context of episodes of youth violence that have recently affected the city of Parma, highlighting the need for greater prevention and control measures in school areas.
