After more than two months of waiting, Genoa returned to victory by beating Parma 1-0 at the Tardini. Pinamomti’s goal gives three well-deserved points and in the end Mario Balotelli makes his debut, booked before the final whistle.
Parma-Genoa 0-1, report cards: Frendrup everywhere, Pinamonti lethal, Ekhator brilliant
Parma-Genoa 0-1, the news
Gilardino confirms almost the entire team that played against Fiorentina, the only change is the right lane with Zanoli taking Sabelli’s place. For the rest everything was like Monday evening with Matturro in defence, Thorsby and midfield and Ekhator alongside Pinamonti.
The two teams are obliged to win and it shows, they play openly and neither of them takes control of the operations, so the challenge is quick and enjoyable even if the opportunities are lacking. In the 15th minute, a bad setback for Parma, as Bernabé stopped and left the field in tears, probably suffering from a muscle problem, with Anas Hai Mohamed in his place. And it is he who has the big opportunity in the 22nd minute, an excellent triangle with Bonny and a right-footed shot from a good position that ends up wide.
In the 37th minute, Vogliacco’s naivety takes Leali on the counter-time, the goalkeeper is forced to catch the ball with his hands diving to avoid the opponent’s goal, on the subsequent second free kick from inside the area Mihaila shoots out. After twenty balanced minutes, Parma with its offensive gusts began to put Grifone in difficulty who in the 37th minute took a free kick from the twenty with Martin, but the ball went over. The great opportunity also arrives for Genoa, Thorsby puts in a very dangerous ball which no one reaches, on the following corner a great header from Pinamonti goes just wide. The end of the half was all red and blue and in the 47th minute Frendrup severely challenged Suzuki with a poisonous left foot.
Genoa seems to be improving and Gilardino doesn’t change anything at half-time and in the 48th minute Thorsby again challenges the excellent Suzuki, the midfield giant himself scores but touches the ball first with his hand, a goal rightly disallowed. The ducals’ response is in a long-range slash from Estevez which comes out just to the right of Leali. The Grifone isn’t lucky at all, in the 58th minute Pinamonti throws an unstoppable right-footed shot which hits the post with the goalkeeper beaten. The match is open, the fog descends on the Tardini but it doesn’t block the good show, in the 65th minute Vasquez is miraculous in taking a ball out of Charpentier’s head only to push it in. Ten minutes pass and Parma tries again but Almqvist’s right-footed shot is strangled and lopsided. The goal arrives in the 80th minute and it’s rossoblu, Frendrup escapes centrally and serves Ekhator, his right foot is powerful and angled, Suzuki gets there again but on the rebound comes Pinamonti who scores the deserved goal of the lead and the victory. Four minutes from time Mario Balotelli also comes on to make his debut for Genoa and after five minutes he is booked for a foul, a measure perhaps a little too severe.
