JAKARTA – President of the Indonesian Badminton Union (PBSI) for the dedicated period 2024-2028, Fadil Imran, admitted that the federation he currently heads is not doing well.
The situation happened because badminton as one of the flagship sports actually failed to win a gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics in July and August.
“Didn’t get a gold medal at the Olympics, in your opinion? It’s not good. I have to say it’s good. I was honest, it’s just that we have to improve,” Fadil said.
Currently, Fadil is preparing a new management arrangement for PBSI with the next main focus of the Olympic Games to be held in Los Angeles in 2028.
To fill the best positions in Fadil’s management, PBSI also cooperated with Dayalima consultants to analyze and carry out mature organizational structure preparation.
“On the 30th (November 2024), we (the new PBSI administrator) will be appointed. So, I hope a week before everything will be final. This is for the board,” Fadil said.
During the preparatory period, PBSI and Dayalima conducted an organizational study. This includes benchmarking with other countries’ federations, interviews and assessments to find qualified management candidates, officials, coaches and support staff.
One of Dayalima’s important recommendations is the existence of a function that deals with the lives of athletes after an active playing career and an ethics committee.
The result of this process will be a reference to the preparation of the PBSI organization for the period 2024-2028. After that, the management arrangement will be submitted to the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) for ratification.
