PBSI responds to Irwansyah Joint India rumors

JAKARTA – The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) addressed the rumor that the coach of Irwansyah’s singles son is joining the Badminton Association of India (BAI).

PBSI Chairman Fadil Imran said that until now the information is still limited to rumor because no official report has been received by PBSI.

“There have been no (reports). Irwansyah has not yet reported to PBSI. I have asked the administrator now, I have not yet reported officially,” said Fadil at the PBSI National Training Center on Monday, November 18, 2024.

The news about Irwansyah entering India to be the first coach in the women’s singles sector and her son was first published in The Times of India on Sunday.

The report suggests that Irwansyah replaces Indonesian coach Agus Dwi Santoso. Irwansyah would later be aided by Dwi Kristiawan who has been serving in India since 2011.

“I also read on social media. I’ve never met him, let alone been called. Therefore, ask social media or Irwansyah,” said Fadil.

However, the possibility of Irwansyah moving to India is very open. The reason is that the coach’s position may change under Fadil’s leadership for the 2024-2028 service period.

Fadil is currently preparing a new management arrangement under his command. To find the best composition in the new structure, PBSI even collaborated with consultants.

According to the plan, this new management composition will be completed a week before Fadil and his followers are proclaimed later this month.
