The baseball season is closing its doors and for Piacenza it is time to take stock after a year characterized by salvation in Serie B and intense youth activity. The objectives set eight months ago have been brilliantly achieved in an apparently simple way. The B group confirmed itself as tough and balanced and having obtained the stay in the category early is certainly an important result. To further embellish this result is the fact that the squad available to Andrea D’Auria was very young and a consequence of the drastic review of the staff for the benefit of various prospects from the youth sector. First team and U18 traveled hand in hand, closely linked by the sharing of several athletes not yet of age who, with the necessary support of some more experienced teammates, became protagonists of a performance that on the eve of the championship did not appear to be at all obvious . Indeed, the first round ended in third place, beyond all expectations, and it’s a shame that a more subdued return reduced the ranking to a still significant final sixth place. But what counted most was the approach taken towards the probative examination of Serie B. An experience which also proved to be important in the youth field, if it is true that the U18, for the second consecutive year (the year spent in the franchise with Brescia), reached the national semi-finals, entering the Italian top 16. In 2025 a large part of the squad will remain in the category and there are already those who are thinking big in light of the results achieved in the last two years. An intriguing future with a B team destined to grow also in its ambitions, a U18 team that could represent the flagship of the entire movement and with the rest of the youth sector will renew its vitality almost certainly presenting an additional formation, namely the U12 as well as U14 and U8 minibaseball already on the field in the season just ended. In the coming months the activity will see its continuity, albeit partial, with the indoor outings of the little ones and the preparation of the seniors in view of the spring competitive resumption. The major work will fall to the technical area, aimed at applying the right corrective measures which in the aim would lead to an even more competitive B.
