Pilsen football players took advantage of the hesitation of their closest rivals in the first league table. After a narrow win in Hradec Králové, they increased their distance in second place from the pair of Baník Ostrava – Sparta Prague to a difference of six points.

“Somehow we caught the results that were playing in our favor and thought we had to take advantage of that chance. I felt great stubbornness in the team, there was will,” Pilsen coach Miroslav Koubek praised the desire for victory.
And captain Lukáš Kalvach echoed him in a similar way. “The motivation to win here was great. Of course we knew about the results and we knew what we were playing for. We are happy that we managed it and have a bit of a head start,” Kalvacha was pleased.

Coach Koubek appreciated it all the more because he now has a demanding schedule due to the European League. “Seven games, 21 days, that’s just a massacre for those players. Someone must have gone crazy, but we have to deal with it,” sighed the Pilsen coach.

Hradec football players have to come to terms with the fact that their streak of five games in which they scored points has ended. Goalkeeper Adam Zadražil was sorry mainly because of the fans.
“People come to us in such unchristian weather. It’s as cold as Siberia. We have to offer more. And if we don’t score a goal, we can’t want to win,” Zadražil knows very well.
And this is also the biggest problem of the East Bohemians in the autumn part of the season. They only netted 12 goals in 15 rounds. Zadražil considers the number of spectators in the auditorium to be even greater, who came even at seven o’clock in the evening.
“Hats off to them. I don’t know if I would go to football in such weather. That’s why we owe them a big thank you for coming here and sitting there in jackets and beanies and cheering for 90 minutes,” added the goalkeeper of Hradec Králové.
