Piozzo: The multipurpose room will be named after Boffa

PIOZZO

– On Monday 4 November the community of Piozzo came together to remember two important moments: National Unity and Armed Forces Day and the thirtieth anniversary of the 1994 flood. The ceremony began with the meeting in front of the Town Hall, from where the procession started heading to the Alba Rosa War Memorial for the raising of the flag and the laying of the laurel wreath. The procession then returned to Piazza 5 Luglio for the second deposition at the War Memorial. The commemoration saw the participation of the authorities, associations and students of the Piozzo nursery and primary school, making the moment even more heartfelt.

The day also marked the memory of Felice Boffa, mayor of Piozzo in 1994. “During the flood, Boffa, tied himself to a tractor with a rope, faced the waters to save the young Giampiero Ballauri, a heroic gesture that profoundly affected our community. To honor his memory, we intend to name the multipurpose hall of the municipality in Boffa – announced the mayor Sergio Lasagna – pending approval from the Prefecture”. After the institutional interventions, the commemoration ended with a symbolic gesture: the throwing of flowers into the Tanaro, in memory of the victims of the flood. “A heartfelt thanks to all the citizens, associations and students who participated, demonstrating once again the strong sense of unity and memory that binds our community”, is the conclusion from the municipal administration.
