A baseball, rugby and football field to be built thanks to the Pnrr, with a cost of 3.5 million. This was announced by the mayor Rinaldo Melucci, indicating Taranto 2 as the area chosen for the construction, in particular between via Palatucci and via Scoglio del Tonno. A multipurpose, outdoor field that would radically change the access to sport for young people in the neighborhood.
«Taranto 2 will be the home of these disciplines – the mayor’s comment – we will have a “diamond” for baseball and the playing field for rugby and football. It is an exceptional result, because we built it step by step, imagining the location of the structure, working on the urban planning regularization of the area and applying the project to the Pnrr. Now we will get started with the planning and implementation: soon we will be cheering the rossoblù from those stands too.” Also yesterday, however, the sports councilor Gianni Azzaro met the management of Prisma Taranto Volley. The intention is to plan joint initiatives, involving a symbolic volleyball team on the shores of the Ionian Sea. «Prisma carries the colors of Taranto in the most beautiful volleyball championship in the world – Azzaro’s words – which is why we want and need to consolidate the relationship that had already been created during the previous mandate. Sport will be a central theme on the agenda of the administration led by Rinaldo Melucci, especially for the prospects linked to the promotion of basic practice, the sharing of its educational values, the involvement of schools and its territorial marketing function. Taranto will be the city of the XX Mediterranean Games and in the next 4 years we have space to create important development opportunities, thanks to local entities such as Prisma.”
