+++ Big crowd at the C ranking in Dillenburg +++
Last weekend (November 16th/17th, 2024) the 3rd Hessen youth ranking was in the tournament calendar, which was held in Dillenburg. As host, TV 1843 Dillenburg sent ten players into the race, who were able to compete against the best young players in Hesse and, due to the tournament being open to entry, also against nationwide competition. With six different age groups, all age groups from U9 to U19 were covered, and a total of almost 250 players found their way to the Dillenburg Nassau-Oranien-Halle.
On Saturday, the U9 and U11 singles were played, with Johann Becker achieving a strong sixth place from Dillenburg’s perspective. With a secure win in the round of 16, he suffered a defeat in the quarter-finals, followed by a three-set win in the intermediate round and a narrow three-set defeat in the game for fifth place.
The U13 to U19 age groups first played in mixed doubles and then in doubles. On Sunday there was a swap so that U11 played doubles, the “biggers” were then challenged in singles. Here, Johann Becker achieved second place in the U11 boys’ doubles, which he achieved together with Chenyi Cai (TuRa Niederhochstadt). There were three wins in four games, only the eventual winners had to admit defeat – in the second set only in overtime.
The children and young people played over 500 games in the ranking tournament, which were spread across 15 playing fields. The Dillenburg badminton department received praise from all sides for its organization, as despite the large workload and over 16 hours of playing time, the tournament was carried out quickly and without any problems.
