A robber attacked a gas station in Gütersloh with a baseball bat. Now the police have released photos.
Gütersloh (gl/din). After the robbery on Friday at a gas station on Berliner Strasse, the police are now looking for the criminal with photos of the baseball bat and clothing.

A masked man armed with a baseball bat attacked the gas station on Berliner Strasse near Postdamm on Friday around 10:15 p.m. According to initial reports, he hit a shelf with the baseball bat to emphasize his demand for cash. There was only one employee in the sales room. According to police, the robber stole a small amount of cash. He fled towards the city center.
The man was around 30 to 40 years old, 1.80 to 1.90 meters tall and slim. He was wearing a black hat, a dark jacket, dark pants and dark shoes. He had masked his face with a scarf.
Parts of the clothing he was wearing and the baseball bat were subsequently found near the crime scene. It is a wooden, worn baseball bat. The upper area is painted black. Remnants of red paint are also visible. The half-length, anthracite-colored coat comes from the Strellson brand. It has a slightly shiny look. The black tube scarf has a striking red and white print and the inscription “Umbrella Corporation”. The police will receive information about the items and the robbery on 05241/8690.
The attack was also recorded on a surveillance camera. The criminal didn’t seem to care that someone else was filling up outside. The attack only lasted seconds. Nobody was injured.

In October, the police and then also the rescue service had to rush to the Gütersloh gas station. With a breath alcohol level of 3.44 per mille, measured by the police, a 58-year-old driver rammed the facade of the gas station building with his Citroën at around 7 p.m. on October 19th. He drove the car against the shop facade for the first time. He then backed up and hit the wall again. The car scraped along the facade until it crashed into a wall porch.
The driver remained uninjured. The officers carried out a breath alcohol test. The emergency services took the man to a hospital for an outpatient examination due to his overall condition. A blood sample was taken there. The officers initiated criminal proceedings against the 58-year-old. The police estimated the damage at a high four-digit amount.
