State of form
Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue continued their faultless run during their semi-final against the Chinese pair Chen/Guo by winning their match in two fairly large sets (21-11 21-14). Previously, the two Frenchmen had eliminated the Thai pair Oupthong/Sudjaipraparat by also winning the match in straight sets (21-14 22-20). This victory is the 4th in a row on Japanese courts after beating the world No. 119 pair Liu/Jheng (21-12 21-15) in the first round and knocking out the world No. 12 pair Cheng/Zhang in the round of 16. The French, currently 22nd in the world, inherited a very strong group during the last Olympic Games with 2 pairs in the top 5 in the world, notably Kim/Jeong (n°5) and Zheng/Huang (n°1). They have since reached the quarterfinals of the Denmark Open and the semifinals of the Hylo Open last week at the Super 300 in Germany. Here they will try to put their name on the list of winners of a Super 500 tournament for the first time in their career.
To stand in their way, there remains a pair. It will be the Thais Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran. The two players were associated very recently in a choice made by the staff of the Thai team who rearranged the pairs by making Taerattanachai play alongside Jomkoh while the latter two played respectively with Puavaranukroh and Paewsampran previously. It took some adjustments and a little time for the symbiosis to take hold between the two players with early eliminations in the second round of the Arctic Open and the first round of the Danish Open. This week, on the other hand, was full of promise. The two Thai players managed to beat Chen/Toh (world no. 9) as well as Tabeling/Boje (world no. 16 and 24 respectively). In the quarter-final, they defeated the world No. 25 pair, the Malaysians Hoo/Cheng before taking their revenge yesterday in the semi-final against Goh/Lai who eliminated them in the second round of the Finnish Open. If Paewsampran was part of a pair ranked 28th in the world with his former mixed partner Jomkoh, Puavaranukroh has much more experience being world No. 6 and having a world champion title under his belt. No advantage in form given the recent combination between the two Thais

Predictions 1-2 of match Gicquel/Delrue Puavaranukroh/Paewsampran
The French are full of confidence after having achieved an almost flawless performance on the courts of Japan. This final will mean a lot at stake for the two young French players who will try to win their biggest career victory. Opposite, the two Thais have only recently been playing on the circuit together and the difference could be made on Paewsampran who seems slightly below the level of the 3 other players on the court. The Thai player could also put additional pressure on herself in this grand final. Gicquel/Delrue victory
