NFL, it was the day of the kickers, who rewarded the Chiefs and Lions, currently the two favorites for the Super Bowl. NHL, MacKinnon first with 30 points but Winnipeg dominates. NBA, Cavaliers never so launched, the precedents of a perfect start. Let’s see all the details.
NFL 2024: look at the mid-season playoff picture
Chiefs and Lions win at the end and move even further to the top of the AFC and NFC respectively, thanks to two kicks with opposite meanings; in Broncos-Chiefs he is Denver’s kicker to miss the field goal with time expiredthus giving the ninth victory in a row for Mahomes and company, while in Lions-Texans the hero of the evening is Jake Bates, kicker from Detroit, who signs the definitive overtaking on the Texans.
But the pursuers? In the AFC, Buffalo put the division on ice with a solid 8-2 record, also taking advantage of the disasters of the Jets and Dolphins. Steelers and Ravens battle in their divisionboth being at 7 wins. In the south, the Texans have a reassuring advantage over the Colts and the aforementioned Chiefs are practically certain to win the AFC West for the umpteenth time.
For the Wild Card, however, among the best runners-up we find the Chargers, who have so far played a positive season under the leadership of Jim Harbaugh thanks to a very convincing defense and the usual performances by Justin Herbert. Then here are the Ravens, followed by the Broncos and Colts who, however, are still very little convincing. It remains to be seen whether the Cincinnati Bengals will be able to end the year on a positive note after a half-convincing start (4-6 record).
In the NFC, the situation is similar with Detroit: 8-1 and division down; the Vikings are 7-2 but have had more than a few problems in the last few games. In NFC East Philadelphia and Washington, the revelation of the seasonthey have the same victories and play against each other on the eleventh matchday. Atlanta leads the NFC South and Arizona leads the NFC West, with San Francisco in a similar position to Cincinnati.
The Wild Card sees Minnesota, Washington, Green Bay and San Francisco all in the mix, but for many of these teams the goal will be to fight to win the division and thus avoiding the factor of traveling to the playoffs. Among the matches to follow this week, the aforementioned clash between Eagles and Commanders promises a lot of balance, which is why we recommend the Over 44.5 points quoted at 1.54 on Netbet*.
Particularly low odds for straight wins for the Packers, priced at 1.41 against Chicago, and the Vikings, priced at 1.42 against Tennessee, potentially both to be taken. Bookies also see the Bills as favorites over Kansas Citywith Buffalo’s clear victory priced at 1.78 that can be risked.
NHL 2024-25: Winnipeg in history, already reached 15 victories
Until last night, it had never happened that a team achieved fifteen successes so quickly. Coach Arniel’s Winnipeg Jets, beating the Rangers 6-3 they reached 15 wins in 16 games disputed up to this point. The NHL’s best offense by separation, with 4.5 goals scored per game, is certainly the main reason for this historic result, but the season is still very long.
Nathan MacKinnon instead took matters into his own hands for Colorado, bringing the Avalanche back into balance after a dubious start. The Canadian center has in fact become the first player of the season to reach 30 points scored (7 goals and 23 assists), two points more than the Russian Kaprizov.
Alex Ovechkin instead scored his tenth goal of the season, reaching 863 in his career. To overtake Gretzky in the all-time rankings 31 goals still neededa difficult but not impossible result to achieve already this season. We would like to point out that on Netbet the most intriguing odds for the night are Vegas’ victory priced at 1.77 against bottom-placed Anaheim, as well as Carolina’s success priced at 1.84 against Utah which seems to be in crisis.
NBA 2024-25: Cleveland continues to win, KO for Durant
Like in the NHL, in the NBA there is a team which currently dominates the charts. They are the Cleveland Cavaliers, who have officially joined the other seven teams that boasted a start with 12 wins and 0 lossesincluding the Seattle SuperSonics from 1982-1983 and the Chicago Bulls from 1996-1997.
Led by Donovan Mitchell, Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley and Darius Garland, the Cavs have two other teams in their sights to improve their start; a 14-0 was in fact managed only by the Mavericks and Celtics. Then, eventually there will be Rockets and Capitols (from way back in 1948) with a 15-0, until reaching the almost impossible 24-0 of the Golden State Warriors of the 2015-2016 season.
In the rest of the league, the Suns they lost Durant for a few weeks due to injury, but at the moment the performances remain the same; Phoenix leads the Western Conference along with Oklahoma City and Golden State, all with a 9-2 record. Doncic’s Mavericks are struggling to find continuity despite the performances of the Slovenian star, having lost the last three games in a row.
In the Eastern Conference, a very slow start for Milwaukee, which with a 3-8 is currently among the worst teams around. Doc Rivers’ position still appears to be solidbut with a possible worsening of records and performances, rumors have already started to circulate. Many matches in the night; we dedicate ourselves to Indiana-Orlando, a Pacers victory priced at 1.75, Houston’s victory priced at 1.49 against the LA Clippers and Over 219.5 points scored priced at 1.85 between the Bucks and Pistons.
