Pro Recco Judo excels at the Gran Prix Lucania International Tournament and in the regional championship.
Pro Recco Judo shone at the recent Lucania International Gran Prix Tournament, held in Policoro, in the province of Matera, on 4 and 5 November. The athletes of the Cadet class (Under 18, boys and girls aged 14 to 17) participated. Among the notable results, Nicolò Capurro won the silver medal in the 73 kg category, while Giorgia Piaggio achieved an excellent fifth place in the 63 kg category.
Technical director Massimo Mancioppi commented: «This tournament represented a significant moment for our young athletes, showing the level of growth and potential of our team».
National and regional results.
In recent years, Pro Recco Judo has consolidated its presence at a national and regional level. «In the four-year Olympic period, our club ranked 16th at a national level, while for 2024 we are twenty-first». Mancioppi explained. «At a regional level, with the results of November 10th we have been Ligurian champions for 11 consecutive years, a result that confirms our leadership in Liguria».
What positions and results did you achieve in the regional championship? We ask Gabriele Mancioppi, senior athlete, rookie and cadet coach, advisor representing athletes.
«In the regional championship which took place on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th November in Arenzano. All the Pro Recco athletes from the senior class to the 11 year old class participated. Overall, in addition to having won the general classification and having confirmed the title of regional champion for the eleventh consecutive year, we obtained a total of 16 gold medals, 8 silver medals and 10 bronze medals.”
What other appointments will you have this month?
«After the regional results there will be two appointments which are on November 24th for our agonists which are on 11/24/2024. The Coppa Italia A1 final will see the participation of the Coppa Italia A2 medalists and some athletes among our top qualified by right. Then two weeks later, on 8 December there will be the Italian team championship where we will face professional teams.”
Mancioppi, he then highlighted the team’s recent successes in the A2 Italian Cup, held on 26 October in Lignano Sabbiadoro: «We achieved great results as a club, placing first in the men’s group and second in the women’s group. Among the male athletes, the second places of Mattia Atzori (90 kg), Filippo Boccotti (81 kg) and Gabriele Mancioppi (66 kg) stand out.
In the women’s sector, Emanuela Campanella won the 70 kg category, followed by the placings of Maria Di Stefano (5th in the 52 kg), Michela Piaggio (7th in the 57 kg) and Vanessa Ferreccio (7th in the 63 kg). It’s a great team result, considering that our athletes train in their free time, before or after study and work commitments.” Mancioppi, with these words explains thesacrifice and dedication to this sporting discipline that exists in the entire group of athletes, including the instructor and managers.
