Victor Wembanyama has once again lived up to his title as an NBA prodigy. With a fabulous performance, the 20-year-old once again throws himself into the basketball history books.

50 points in 26 minutes: Victor Wembanyama made NBA history again. With his new career best in his San Antonio Spurs’ 139:130 win against the Washington Wizards, the 20-year-old Frenchman became the fourth-youngest player to reach the 50-point mark. The only younger players so far have been Brandon Jennings, LeBron James and Devin Booker, all of whom were also 20 years old when they cracked 50 points
.
“I’d like to tell you that you wake up a certain way or feel really good when you’re warming up, but at the end of the day in the NBA we have a game every other day,” said Wembanyama, who sank eight three-pointers against the Wizards. The center’s NBA best was previously 40 points.
“We sweat, we bleed on the pitch”
“Every time we warm up we’re in pain, you know, we’re sweating, we’re bleeding on the pitch, so it’s really a minute by minute thing, it’s 48 minutes a game,” said Wembanyama, who is now in Hit six or more three-pointers three games in a row.
The Frenchman wasn’t the only player to break the 50-point mark on Wednesday. Giannis Antetokounmpo even scored 59 points in the Milwaukee Bucks’ 127:120 win after overtime against the Detroit Pistons. The Greek sank 21 of his 34 shots and also had 14 rebounds and seven assists. “As a leader, I always remind the guys not to take moments for granted. No matter who plays, we don’t give up and we always have to find ways to win the game,” Antetokounmpo said. (sid/edited by ska)
