Just forty-eight hours after the last time, it will be New York Knicks against Brooklyn Nets again, again at Madison Square Garden and if this one is like the previous one, then the show will be guaranteed. Yes, because when imagining the next “derby” in the Big Apple we must start from the emotions that the two teams gave and in particular from the almost incredible mockery that the Nets were reserving for the hosts who, up by 21 towards the end of the third quarter, they found themselves down by a point with a few seconds left. It took a triple from Brunson and a block from Bridges to allow the Knicks to regain the victory that seemed like a formality only about a quarter of an hour earlier.
What happened actually reflects a bit of an inability on New York’s part to close out games but also, looking on the positive side, the great impact of many players who are proving themselves: Brunson and Bridges already mentioned but also Anunoby again very positive. On the Nets side, not so much to blame but a space Cameron Thomas from which to start again. For Brooklyn, the record is indeed that of a penalizing 5-8 but the recent defeats have come against the Knikcs, Cavs and Celtics or the best of the Eastern and many of them have been battled.
Certainly, a success for Jordi Fernandez’s boys would also help morale: trying to take it, against predictions, in this rematch would be worth double but up front there will be a New York that will always be rather discontinuous but talented enough to be able to win (almost) every match .
