The David-Douillet dojo was full on Monday, November 11, 2024, with the annual tournament organized by the Judo club Descartes (JCD), with the support of the municipality. It brought together 27 clubs from Indre, Vienne, Charente-Maritime and Indre-et-Loire, or 400 fighters in total. In the mini-chicks, chicks, mini and benjamins categories, there were more than 300 competitors from 6 to 13 years old. Judo is really on the rise in our region, a craze certainly linked to the Olympic exploits of Teddy Riner and his gang.
The day ended with the competition for seniors and color belts, men and women. President Jean-Christophe Boucher expressed his satisfaction: “We kept the timing all day, and I would like to thank all the young people who refereed and held the scorers’ tables. »
With its five gyms in South Touraine and its 250 members spread across the communes of Ligueil, Cussay, Le Grand-Pressigny, Preuilly-sur-Claise and Descartes, the Descartes Judo club is one of the flagship clubs in the department. The “silver” label from France Judo obtained in September confirms this position as a reference club and rewards the quality of teaching, commitment and dynamism of the JCD.
