Puerto de la Cruz recovers the ‘Sports in the Street’ event after more than a decade without being held

The Puerto de la Cruz City Council, through the Sports area directed by councilor Alberto Cabo, recovers after several decades the ‘Sports in the street’ project, which will convert the surroundings of the Miguel Ángel Díaz Molina pavilion into a space for practice of different sports disciplines, with the aim of promoting physical and healthy activity among citizens.

Thus, this Saturday, November 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., María del Rosario Sotomayor Street and Plaza San Felipe will host a varied sports program for all ages. From the early hours of the morning, they will be able to participate in activities such as maintenance gymnastics, karate, rhythmic gymnastics, vovinam Viet Vo Dao, jiu-jitsu and boxing, aimed at both beginners and those who wish to perfect their technique. Activities are not limited to exhibitions and classes, but there will also be a wide range of recreational options, designed to ensure fun for the whole family.

Among them, the bouncy castle, the inflatable balloon, the American court (inflatable), and different games such as table football, air hockey, table tennis and street tennis stand out. In addition, there will be spaces for sports such as 3×3 basketball, volleyball, badminton, pickleball, skateboarding and BMX. For lovers of physical challenges, you can practice calisthenics and parkour activities, as well as try precision goalkeeping and the kickmeter, as well as a space for intellectual dexterity, with chess games.

One of the most notable aspects of this event is the collaboration of municipal clubs, who have been actively involved in the design of the activities, including exhibitions and workshops. This will not only allow participants to learn more about local sports disciplines, but will also strengthen the bond between the clubs and the community. With the return of the ‘Sports in the Street’ event, the City Council reaffirms its commitment to promoting physical activity and well-being, inviting all citizens to participate and take advantage of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

Alberto Cabo stated that “this event has a very great symbolic value. It is a way to show that sport can be accessible, regardless of age or level. We want everyone to feel included, whether it’s participating in an activity, enjoying the exhibits, or simply trying something new. These types of initiatives are key to social integration, coexistence and the promotion of an active life among the residents of the municipality.”
