This week Mats van den Berg is the pupil of the week. He is a defender of the o13-1. Although it is his first year on the big field, he plays in his position as if he has been used to it for a long time. He is afraid of nothing and no one, and goes into every duel. He is wild, but in the positive sense of the word, because he wins a lot of duels. He is also extremely calm on the ball and keeps a cool head, even with opponents nearby. These are qualities that you hardly see in such a young boy. It’s very nice to have on the team. Mats is generally a quiet boy, at least when the trainers are speaking. His attitude at training is always good. He is eager to learn and does a lot with the tips given. If he becomes a little less quiet during the match, and can also take charge through coaching, then we have a great talent on our hands for years to come.
Next Sunday ZAP 1 will play against VVS. Hopefully Mats can ensure that we start the match well by scoring for us. Mats is of course already there for the discussion and warm-up. Enjoy Mats! In a few years, you will be able to walk there yourself.
