Rafael Nadal bids farewell to tennis, becomes emotional after defeat in his last Davis Cup match

Rafael Nadal said goodbye to tennis. The Spanish tennis star played the last match of his career in the David Cup. The thing to note is that the tennis legend had announced his retirement only last month i.e. in October. He had talked about playing his last match in Davis Cup.

Nadal played his last match in the David Cup on Tuesday against Botik Van de Zidschulp of the Netherlands. In the match, Nadal was defeated by Botic Van D in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. Nadal made a comeback in the second set of the match, but ultimately he had to face defeat.

Let us tell you that 38 year old Nadal retired with 22 Grand Slam singles titles. Apart from this, he also achieved many achievements in tennis. At the end of his career, Nadal insisted that he be remembered for both his athletic and personal qualities.

“I’m leaving with the peace of mind that I’ve left a legacy, which I think is not just a sporting one but a personal legacy,” Nadal said.

Nadal further said, “The titles, the numbers are there. But the way I want to be remembered more is as a good person, a kid who followed his dreams and achieved more than I ever dreamed of.

Name in the list of players who have won the most Grand Slams

Till now, the record of winning the most Grand Slams is in the name of Serbian player Novak Djokovic. Djokovic has won a total of 24 Grand Slam titles. Then the second name in the list comes of Rafael Nadal, who won 22 Grand Slam titles. Moving ahead, the name of Swiss legend Roger Federer appears, who won 20 Grand Slams in his career.
