Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has criticized the new format of the UEFA Champions League.

The president of the Madrid club said that the innovation did not solve the problems:
“The new format of the Champions League did not solve the problems. This is an unfair system. “UEFA has increased the number of matches, but their value is less than before.”
Note that from the 2024/2025 season, 36 teams play in the Champions League, and not 32, as before. Previously, the clubs were divided into groups of four teams each; now the Champions League uses the so-called Swiss system, where all 36 teams will be in a single standings. The UEFA Champions League final for the 2024/2025 season will take place on May 31, 2025 at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
