The governor of Chiapas, Rutilio Escandón Cadenas, celebrated the effort and dedication of the state’s most outstanding athletes and coaches by presenting the 2024 State Sports Award (PED) and economic incentives to Primera Fuerza and Paranational Conade 2024 medalists. At an event Full of emotion, Escandón highlighted the work of the winners as an example for new generations.

“The Chiapas sportsmen and women have given great results. “They motivate us and make us vibrate with their dedication and passion, inspiring girls, boys and young people to practice sports and build a better society,” said the president.

The state government delivered a total of 704 thousand pesos in stimuli, increasing the amount originally assigned by Conade. This adjustment allowed 55 thousand pesos to be awarded to the first-time PED winners and 22 thousand pesos to the other winners.

Among the honorees, Rubí Aguilar Montejo (Associated Fights), María Fernanda Cruz Bolom (Judo) and Luis Mario Nájera Vleeschower (Parataekwondo) stand out in the athletes category; as well as Luis Alberto Damas Martínez (Judo) and Quintín Gerardo Vázquez López (Associated Fights) in the coaches category.

Luis Alberto Damas Martínez, award-winning Judo coach, expressed his gratitude: “It is an honor to receive this recognition that reflects years of effort and dedication. I thank Governor Rutilio Escandón and the sports authorities for their support.”

Tania Robles Velázquez, general director of the Sports Institute, stressed the importance of these stimuli to recognize sporting excellence and promote the development of athletes. Of the 572 thousand pesos distributed among athletes and coaches, 312 thousand pesos were allocated to medalists of the Conade Paranationals, highlighting the state’s commitment to inclusion and adapted sports.

The event was also attended by medalists such as Fabiola del Pérez Zenteno, winner of two golds in Parapowerlifting, and Alexandra Herrera Velasco, a prominent taekwondo artist.

Escandón assured that sport is a tool to build a healthier and more cohesive society. “These awards are justice for those who dedicate their lives to taking Chiapas to the next level in national and international sports,” he concluded.
