In order to take part in this year’s German Masters U11, the unofficial German U11 championships that were played last weekend in Trostberg (Bavaria), only Jinmo Zheng from the DBV talent base Hövelhof made the long journey to Lake Chiemsee. The singles tournament took place on Saturday and the doubles champions were played on Sunday. Jinmo Zheng competed in both the singles and doubles tournaments with Ibrahim Syams Abdurrashyid (PSV Bremen). He was able to achieve the ambitious goal of reaching the quarter-finals in both disciplines. Unseeded in both singles and doubles, he was able to narrowly win the decisive games in the group phase. After two clear two-set wins, he achieved this in the singles with a 21:15, 15:21, 21:19 victory against the fifth seed Adrijan Umscheid (TV Hofheim). He was then able to advance to the quarter-finals with a clear 21:13, 21:10 victory. There he had to admit defeat to Ian Huang (TV Refrath) with 21:18, 21:13. In doubles, the two opening matches in the group were also clearly won. After fending off match points, the pair managed to win the group against the fifth seeds Filgraebe / Wolber (TV Hofheim / FC Kirnbach) with a score of 21:14, 18:21, 23:21. In the quarterfinals, Zheng / Abddurrasyid had to admit defeat to the northeast German pairing Bäsler / Sisic with 18:21, 13:21. Overall, Jinmo Zheng can look back on a very good tournament season in 2024, especially since he only started playing tournaments at the German level in June found in the domestic U11 rankings in Hövelhof.
