▲Oryun ▲Songpa ▲Seongnaecheon Tennis Court, etc. Reservation method change and facility improvement work for 10 venues, etc.
Reservation by phone/text → Online reservation for residents only… Publicness, transparency, convenience ↑
Improvement work on old facilities is also in progress… Clay court covering work, repair, remodeling, etc.
“It was difficult to use the municipal tennis court because it was mainly run by clubs, but I heard that online reservations were available so I came here for the first time today. “I think I’ll use it often because it’s easier to make a reservation and I can check the status in real time!”
This is a review from a resident (21, Bangi-dong) who visited Seongnaecheon Tennis Club with his family. Recently, the demand for tennis facilities, which is a popular sport for the MZ generation, is increasing, but not only are there a small number of tennis courts compared to the number of people, but there are many places that are closed and operated mainly for hobbyists, so it is difficult to make a reservation during prime time.
To overcome this problem, Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Kang-seok) boldly changed the reservation method for local municipal tennis courts from phone calls and text messages to online reservations.
The existing contract with the Tennis Association for the management of municipal tennis courts was terminated, and the reservation method was improved while entrusting the facility to the Facilities Management Corporation.
As a result, a total of 3 venues and 10 venues, including ▲Oryun Tennis Court (Bangi-dong, 6 sides) ▲Songpa Tennis Court (Songpa-dong, 2 sides) ▲Seongnaecheon Tennis Court (Pungnap-dong, 2 sides), have become available for online reservation.
In addition to this, the district has also rolled up its sleeves to improve facilities at the aging municipal tennis court since last October. Oryun and Seongnaecheon Tennis Centers are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year, and Songpa Tennis Center is scheduled to be completed within the next year to provide a high-quality sports environment.
The five-ring tennis court, which was completed in early November, was equipped with an optimal exercise environment through clay court covering construction and remodeling of internal facilities such as restrooms, showers, and lounges. The exterior of the building was painted in refreshing colors, the LED sign was replaced, and landscaping was planted to refurbish the somewhat bleak environment into a friendly one.
A district official said, “Following the Olympic Ring Tennis Court, the Seongnaecheon Tennis Court, which will begin construction in mid-November, will be replaced with a green artificial turf court.” He continued, “We will continue to have close discussions with the Corporation to ensure fair and transparent operation through not only facility improvement but also adherence to firm operating principles.” “I will go,” he said.
Any resident of Songpa-gu can make a reservation for the municipal tennis court on a first-come, first-served basis through the ‘Seoul Metropolitan City Public Service Reservation’ website. For further details regarding reservations, please contact the Songpa-gu Facilities Management Corporation.
Songpa-gu Mayor Seo Kang-seok said, “Public facilities are not the exclusive property of certain people, but public property that all residents have the right to use equally.” He added, “We will continue to prioritize the values of creativity, innovation, and fairness to create a healthy and lively sports environment, so that we can be the sovereign people of this land.” “I will serve the people of Ishin-gu,” he said.
