Rimowa is rethinking the grooves on the Original Cabin Optical

A new suitcase from Rimowa plays with optical illusions.

Rimowa Original Cabin Optical rethinks the iconic grooves

For the Rimowa Original Cabin Optical, the iconic grooves were designed to give the impression of disappearing. According to Rimowa, this happens thanks to a geometric pattern that creates the effect that the grooves “change depending on the viewing angle and light reflection (…).” This illusion is thanks to the interaction of brushed and unbrushed aluminum, manufactured in the Cologne factory. The new design also adorns the interior of the suitcase

But the Rimowa Original Cabin Optical doesn’t just attract attention on the outside. The luggage also has a lot to offer inside. The nylon lining used, which features a jacquard pattern, also picks up the iridescent effect from the outside. The design is also on the height-adjustable Flex Divider. This is a “compression system from Rimowa that allows travelers to pack more while staying organized.”

The features of the case are also impressive. These include a telescopic handle, the Rimowa Multi-Wheel system, which guarantees stable yet effortless control, and the built-in TSA locks.

Rimowa has come up with something very special for fans of the brand: In addition to the suitcase, there is a leather pendant that uses the same geometric optical pattern.
