Bologna, 21 November 2024 – At the beginning of September he attacked a man in via dell’Arcoveggio to steal a bag from him with the money that had just been inside collected at the post office. The robber, a thirty-nine-year-old Italian with a criminal record, was however identified by the police who carried out a precautionary measure against him in prison the other day.
Last September 2, the thirty-nine year old, around 8.30 am in via dell’Arcoveggio, approached the victim who had just left the post office with some postal savings books and 2,400 euros in cash. The robber pushed the elderly man making him fall to the ground and then stole his bag with the money inside.
The officers, who arrived on site, set out on the trail of the criminal, viewing the surveillance cameras and discovering that the robber, disguised with a baseball hat and a denim jacket with the collar turned up, had fled at a run along Via dell’Arcoveggio towards the suburbs.
The meticulous work of the investigators of Flying Squad allowed us to follow, through video surveillance cameras, the man’s escape for several blocks, until he was filmed by a camera of a private company while he took off his baseball hat and jacket. The disguisedespite the high temperatures of the period, was due to the fact that the robber tried to hide the tattoos on his arms and neck and not be identifiable.
Thanks to the images extrapolated from the cameras in the area, however, the thirty-nine year old was immediately recognized by the police, also because he is a well-known character as he has numerous precedents for aggravated theft, theft with dexterity and robbery.
Furthermore, the man appeared to be on semi-liberty in prison, as he was the recipient of an imprisonment order for those same crimes. With the coordination of the public minister, the officers carried out a search in the robber’s house, where the clothes worn during the attack on the elderly man were found and seized. So, the other day, the officers carried out the precautionary measure in prison against the man.
