He left the capital yesterday to meet the Friedkins in London, the coach’s return is scheduled for this evening: the aim is to be on the field as early as tomorrow for the first training session

November 13 – 12.23pm – ROMA
London, a city where Roma’s fate has often been decided in recent years. This is where the white smoke should arrive in these hours regarding Claudio Ranieri’s third return to the Roma bench, the fourth also considering his past as a Giallorossi footballer. The coach from Testaccio left last night together with his agent Chiodi for the English capital where the leaders of the Friedkin Group had met since Monday with the aim of resolving Roma’s crisis and finding the fourth coach in a calendar year. After the attempts for Vincenzo Montella (too many disputes with the Turkish Federation) and the doubts about the foreign candidatures of Potter or ten Hag, we turned to Ranieri who has made no secret of wanting to return to coaching after his farewell in June to Cagliari.

THE AGREEMENT
—
So the former Leicester coach, in the company of his agent Pietro Chiodi, immediately flew to London where he landed yesterday around 10pm. And in these hours he is negotiating the agreement with the Friedkins: six months as a ferryman then (probably) a future as a manager in a club that desperately needs an Italian reference figure. Barring sensational surprises (never to be ruled out with the Friedkins), Ranieri’s return to Rome is scheduled for 6.20pm at Fiumicino complete with a signed contract, and money will certainly not be the issue to be resolved. Unless the Texan owners themselves decide to “accompany” him on their plane to Ciampino in the evening. From tomorrow, in fact, Ranieri is already called to the first training session of his new Roma. The one in 2009 came close to winning the scudetto after a crazy comeback against Inter, the one in 2019 came from important years but no longer believed in Di Francesco. This time it’s another story: we need to chase away the ghost of the safety zone and rebuild the soul and foundations. Who better than Sir Claudio?
