Schwicheldt. He coached the team to promotion to the district league and led them to the final of the Härke Cup competition, but the successful era ends in the summer: Coach Tobias Dreyer will not extend his contract with the district football league team TSV Rot-Weiß Schwicheldt. “In the summer I will be a coach for four and a half years. My gut feeling tells me that the team needs a new mouthpiece and maybe I need something new too,” said Dreyer.

Farewell with the goal of staying in the league
He informed the team of his decision after the important home win against Lehndorf. Shortly beforehand, Dreyer had met with the club’s board of directors to discuss the future. “The club would have liked to extend it, I feel very honored.” But Dreyer decided otherwise. In the summer, the 37-year-old will be leaving the club of which he has been a member for 21 years, for which he once stormed and with which he also won the district cup as assistant coach with Christian Gleich. He has one big wish when he says goodbye: “Hopefully I’ll leave with relegation in my pocket.” Dreyer goes into his last seven months with a seven-point cushion. And emphasizes: “We still have a few goals on paper, so it’s not yet time to hand out thank-you notes or anything like that. Until June 16th, I only have Schwicheldt on my mind and I will work with all my might to ensure that we achieve these goals.”

Tobias Dreyer is toying with a break
The 37-year-old doesn’t yet know what will happen next. Dreyer at least assures that an interesting offer from another club was not the reason for his decision. “I can very well imagine taking a break for a year. We always had a lot of pressure, it was exhausting,” he explained. And daughter Hedda (4) would certainly be happy to see dad more often. He sees his favorite club as being well positioned to find a successor. “Schwicheldt is an attractive location, the club will make the right decision.”
RW football chairman Hans-Walter Reineke probably can’t discuss so many things with the next coach on the short official route over lunch. Tobias Dreyer is also his son. The chairman had hoped for a contract extension. “We as a club regret this very much because he did a good job, brought the team forward and had a good relationship with the players. It’s a shame.” Now RW is looking for a trainer. Interesting candidates could be assistant coach Benjamin Weiß, the former Vöhrum coach Nils Könnecker or perhaps even the veterans Daniel Kudlek or Onur Bacaksiz as player-coaches. But Reineke doesn’t want to speculate about names yet. “We will find a sensible solution,” he is convinced.
