AYACUCHO, Peru. The rugby 7 team will compete for the bronze medal against the Peruvian team after concluding the regular round with a 2-2 record in the tournament of that discipline that is held in Villa María del Triunfo, in Lima.
On this Thursday, the women’s rugby 7 team achieved its second victory in the sport’s tournament that takes place in Lima, by beating the representation of Ecuador 22 to 5.
The Quisqueyan troop put its record at 2-1, and advanced to the semifinals to face Chile.
For the Quisqueyan team, María Adón Guzmán scored 10 points; Ilianny María de Jesús Ynfante contributed 7, and Marlenne Alexandra Henríquez contributed five.
For Ecuador, Soledad De los Ángeles Quijije Ferruzola scored the five points.
In the semifinal, the Creole team lost 52-0 against the strong Chilean team.
With the result, the Dominican Republic finished the regular round with a 2-2 record and will compete for the bronze medal against its counterpart from Peru at 12:17 a.m. (1:17 RD time).
3×3 basketball results
The women’s basketball team defeated its counterpart from Ecuador 21-12 in its second participation in the 3×3 basketball tournament held on the Mariscal Cáceres School court.
With the victory, the Dominican national team put its record at 1-1, pending the match against Venezuela to close the regular round of the competition.
Yadira Polanco and Yamel Abreu were the best scorers for the Dominican Republic, with seven points each, while Nayeli Morillo contributed four points.
For Ecuador (1-1), Dayanna Salcedo and Marjori Caicedo scored four points each.
In the second match of the date, the Quisqueyan team (1-2) lost 15-12 against the representation of Venezuela, which had the contribution of Mariana Durán, with eight points, and Bárbara Pico, with five.
For the Dominican Republic, Nayely Morillo finished with four points, while Yamel Abreu Valdez and Yadira Polanco scored three points each.
The team awaits the definition of the crosses to know the semifinal rival that will be played this Friday.
Men’s team loses
In their third match of the preliminary round, the Dominican men’s team was defeated 22-13 by Guatemala at the close of the activity this Thursday at the Mariscal Cáceres School, in Ayacucho.
The Quisqueyan team finished with a 1-2 record and is awaiting the definition of the crosses to determine the semifinal rival.
Miguel González, with 18 points, was the top scorer for Guatemala, which also had the participation of David Orellana, with three goals.
For the Dominican Republic, Shamil Ballas obtained three points; Brayan Martínez stood out with seven, and César Reyes had three.
