Two athletes from Sacenza, both registered for the
Sciacca Running, were involved in two separate half marathons: Ivano Nicolosi competed in the Busto Arsizio Half Marathon, while Francesco Casamassima took part in the Gela Half Marathon.
Excellent times for the two athletes: 1h22’29 for Nicolosi and 1h25’44 for Casamassima who established, among other things, his new record over the distance. The next seasonal commitments include the traditional Palermo half marathon on Sunday 17 November, while on 24 November the last stage of the provincial Grand Prix scheduled in the evocative setting of Scala dei Turchi in Realmonte, a provincial circuit during which the athletes made in Sciacca have had a great season.
And let’s move on to martial arts. Last trip of 2024 for the judo sector of the Karate Judo Club of Sciacca of master Pippo Piazza. The Saccensi athletes participated in the 18th edition of the “On the slopes of Etna” tournament which took place at the Palazzetto dello Sport in Catania.
In the morning, a collegial training session was held together with the Olympic champion Alice Bellandi, godmother of the event, who generously gave herself to the over 400 young judokas from all over Sicily. In the afternoon, however, the federal competition took place with the Karate Judo Club which achieved several second and third places in the various categories: second places for Gaspare Falautano, Aida Bono, Giacomo Galluzzo and Nicolò Monteleone; third places, however, for Lorenzo Sileci, Marta Fauci, Andrea Montana and Emanuele Baldassano. The athletes will be guided by Saccense coach Alberto Catanzaro.
An intense day full of emotions, a sporting event that certainly led to growth for the young athletes who took part.
