Hundreds of kilos of donations of all kinds will be transported from Friday, to the victims of Valencia and its surroundings, after the terrible weather episode that occurred earlier in November.
It’s the great story of the week, and it comes straight from Salindres and the Alesian basin. Aid for the victims of Valencia and its surroundings was launched on November 6 by numerous associations and local municipalities. So far, nearly 24 cubes have been collected, and will be sent from Friday evening, for an expected arrival on site in the morning.
In these numerous boxes stored mainly at the Judo Club of Salindres (one of the large structures at the heart of the project), we find hygiene products (masks, gloves, hydroalcoholic gel), clothing, blankets, non-perishable products, business schools, animal feed… and many others. Once they arrive at their destination, they will be stored in a hangar and dispatched to local associations.
Several collection points have been set up, notably in Saint-Martin-de-Valgégales with elected officials. The associations of CREC, Union des Femmes Solidaires and LSR donated, as did the Saint-Privat-des-Vieux football club. The Casanova, Barbusse and Langevin Wallon (Saint-Matin-de-Valgégales) and Notre-Dame (Nîmes) schools also mobilized through their students. Many other companies worked, such as Schneider Electric, Atelier de Lisa and Commando Surplus Militaire. Mickaël Laporte offered to transport the donations with his truck and “Ensemble pour Bessèges” also helped them.
“My husband Stephan is Spanish and Lionel, one of the people at the heart of this project, has family in Valencia. We thank all the donors and volunteers who help us in this beautiful adventure and this beautiful gesture”testifies Léodie Llinarès, president of the Salindres judo club. On December 7 and 8, a toy drive will take place at the Saint-Martin-de-Valgégales Christmas market, perhaps for a second convoy if necessary.
