Saverio and Cattaneo take home three regional titles

LECCO – Great season finale for the blucelesti athletes of the Badminton & Croquet Club Leccowhich, after the excellent results obtained at the Italian Championships, they win three regional titles thanks to the performances of Andrea Saverio and Mattia Cattaneo. Intense Sunday at the gym of the Toscanini Institute in Chiari, where 80 young athletes from the various Lombardy ASDs competed to win the regional title.
Excellent performances for Andrea, who won two regional titles and a third place: in the U19 men’s singles, he won the final against Hu (New Sport) with a clear 21-15, 21-8; in the U19 mixed doubles, paired with Yi Yuan Chen (Junior BC MI), won the final on Segato/Pagani with the score 21-15, 21-16; finally, in the U19 men’s doubles, together with Matteo Maggioni (Pol. Oratorio 2B Brivio), took third place, losing in the semifinal against Hu (New Sport)/Bocquet Cousine (Junior BC MI) with a score of 17-21, 12-21.
After obtaining excellent results at the Italian Championships, Mattia also imposed himself at the Regionals, winning the title in the U13 men’s doubles paired with Luca Li lied (Junior BC MI), thanks to the victory in the final over Haxhiu/Toska (Brescia Sport Più) with a 21-8, 21-14. In the U13 men’s singles, however, he took second place, losing to his doubles partner in the final Li with the score 8-21, 14-21.
Nicolò Borin took part in this edition, facing difficult challenges. In the U17 men’s singles, he was defeated in the round of 16 by the No. 1 seed, Segato (GSA Chiari), with a score of 7-21, 8-21. In the U17 men’s doubles, paired with Matteo Pessina (Pol Oratorio 2B Brivio), were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Segato/Giani (GSA Chiari), seeded n°1, with a score of 9-21, 8-21. The fate in the draws was not favorable for him, but his determination was still evident.
Finally, the Vice President and Technician Edvidio Milani comments on the results obtained as follows: “After the Italian title won last week, our Mattia and Andrea also prevailed at the Regional Championships, confirming constant growth and a particular commitment. I also saw excellent performances from Nicolò, who made an excellent impression in his first high-level tournament.
