Last Saturday the time had come. After 7 games it has 1e Saturday team of the vv Schoten won a period title, after the 7e wins in a row.
DSK was defeated 5-0 on home turf, making the goal difference 30 goals for and (only) two against. An excellent performance under the leadership of trainers Rocco de Vos and Eloy Schmidt. The sporting match (not a single card was dealt) also provided some opportunities for DSK in the first half. But goalkeeper Germain Ebbeling and captain Nicky Eekhout in particular parried this danger. In midfield, many balls were won and many holes were closed by “vacuum cleaner” Randy Willems. The game was back and forth for the first fifteen minutes, but eventually it was in the 20se minute Fernando Alphenaar who made it 1-0 on a pass from Thomas Scholten. A second goal was scored before half time. Berry Willems headed a ball against the ropes after an assist from Donny Koning.
Schoten also took the lead in the second half. The ball moved well and the combination was nice. This game yielded 3 more goals: Mitch Cadogan, Thomas Scholten and Sjoerd Auwerda. The period title was a fact. This was celebrated exuberantly after the match in a packed clubhouse with music from a DJ and a delicious meal for the players and guidance of Schoten and all other attendees who care about Schoten, provided by Snackbar Jansen Hendriks.
