The Professional Football League is not experiencing a media lull. A few days after the publication of the Senate report on the intervention of investment funds in French professional football, the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF) shifted gears.
A search is underway at the LFP, in the investigation opened after the complaint from an anti-corruption association, “AC!! », which questioned the conditions under which the deal was concluded with the CVC investment fund, which acquired 13% of the capital of the League in exchange for a cash contribution of 1.5 billion euros. The investigation was opened on July 16, 2024, on charges of embezzlement of public funds, active and passive corruption of a public official and illegal taking of interests, according to a judicial source.
The investigations were entrusted to the Paris Research Section of the gendarmerie. Searches are also underway at the home of Vincent Labrune, in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, and in the offices of the CVC investment fund.
