Hill was stopped outside Hard Rock Stadium on opening day of the NFL season for alleged speeding. The situation escalated, resulting in an officer forcibly pulling Hill from his car, pushing him to the ground and handcuffing him. However, due to the officers’ absence from the hearing, the fines were dropped.

Footage from the officer’s body camera shows him pulling Hill out of his car and forcibly restraining him. Hill’s teammate, Calais Campbell, who happened to be driving past the scene, was also handcuffed. After about 30 minutes, Hill received the fine and was allowed to enter the stadium. An official was placed on administrative duty and an internal investigation was launched, but no results have been made public so far.

Hill has expressed his belief that the officer involved should be fired, stressing that the lack of respect was shown not only to him but to his teammates as well. He acknowledged that he could have handled the situation differently and acknowledged his own responsibility in the matter.

Hill was later traded to the Miami Dolphins and signed a lucrative contract extension that made him the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL.
